LED Controller for Gates (WS2812B WS2811)
Whenever you’re using addressable LEDs, you’ll need an LED controller of some type. This is the LED controller I have been using on my addressable gates for UDL for years due to being cheap, easy, and effective.
They’re loaded with tons of preset patterns, including even just simple, solid colors. Other LED controllers that look like these often can’t do just a static solid color, which really bothers me as sometimes I don’t like to having moving LED patterns on my gates. That’s one of my favorite things about these controllers is that they offer moving patterns AND static patterns.
You’ll need to solder on a connector for power. I recommend a male XT60 connector. This controller will take anywhere from 5v up to 24v, but you’ll want to match whatever your LED strips are. I use 12v addressable LEDs, so I use either a 12v power supply to power these or a 3s battery.
Just plug power into the XT60 connector you solder on then plug the other end into your LED strips. Cycle through patterns and adjust the speed of patterns using the buttons on the back. Couldn’t be simpler.
These LED controllers do not require your LED strips to be a specific number of LEDs and will generally work regardless of long or dense the strip is. The max is 2048 LEDs which I’ve never exceeded on a gate.
These have 76 different effect color/effect options to cycle through.
